Prof. Wentao Li

Prof. Wentao Li, PhD Supervisor at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Huazhong Agricultural University, is a permanent researcher at the National Key Laboratory of Agricultural Microbial Resource Exploitation and Utilization and the Hubei Hongshan Laboratory. He obtained his PhD in Preventive Veterinary Medicine in China and a PhD in Philosophy in the Netherlands. He has been selected into talent programs such as the National Program for Outstanding Young Scientists (Overseas) and the Wuhan Talents Program.

 

He serves as the Director of the Animal Disease Diagnosis Center at Huazhong Agricultural University, Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Veterinary Diagnostic Reagent Development (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs), and Technical Director of the Animal Biosafety Level 3 Laboratory at Huazhong Agricultural University. He is also a peer reviewer for the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researcher, and listed in the Global Top 2% Scientists.

 

With long-term dedication to research on the infection mechanisms and prevention/control technologies of animal pathogens, he has published over 130 research papers in international journals. Among these, 55 articles (as first or corresponding author, including co-authorship) have been published in leading international journals, with a total of over 9,200 citations, an H-index of 39, and 9 ESI highly cited papers. One of his works was selected as the most influential and innovative COVID-19-related research paper (ranked 1st) and among the Top 50 Most Influential Papers of 2020 (ranked 3rd) in Nature Communications.

 

He holds 7 authorized invention patents (including 1 international patent) and has participated in obtaining 2 national new veterinary drug certificates.
